December 26, 2023: Full Moon at Cancer 4°58’, 7:33 pm EST.
In Greek and Roman myth, Chiron was a centaur. In Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Chiron is allied with Anubis, the Shower of the Way. Both were abandoned by their mothers at birth.
Chiron’s mother was raped by a centaur (half human/half horse). When she realized her baby was a centaur, she fled in horror. Chiron crawled into a cave to mourn. Other wood nymphs took pity on him and brought food to the mouth of the cave. Every day Chiron crawled forth to eat, then retreated back into the cave. Eventually he became too big for the cave and had to emerge. Metaphorically, he gave birth to himself.
Anubis was the child of an extra-marital liaison between Nephthys and Osiris, husband of her sister Isis. Nephthys was the consort of the Warrior God Set. Nephthys left Anubis in the desert, ostensibly because she knew Set would kill him. Isis rescued Anubis and raised him as her son. She taught him magic and trained him as a psychopomp – a guide to newly deceased souls.
Chiron and Anubis were destined for greatness, and a key aspect of their journey involved a painful abandonment in childhood.
In a natal chart, Chiron describes our core wound. For the collective, Chiron by transit marks an area where a deep wound is up for healing. Chiron is in Aries, the sign of the Warrior. Aries is allied with Kephera, the Rising Sun. It is time for a re-definition of warrior energy on Earth. Before we can embrace a new concept of what it means to be a Warrior, we must fully understand the deep wounding this archetype has experienced.
At this Full Moon, expect the Wounded Warrior to rise up in the world, and perhaps within you. Ride the wave of rage and probe the deep hurt that lies within that anger. Then release it to the devouring Moon.
Chiron turns direct on the 26th at 10:10 pm EST.
