April 7, 2020 – Full Moon at Libra 18°43’, 10:35 pm EDT.
Full Moon portals correspond with fluctuations in emotions and this one is no exception. The transits during this Libra Full Moon are powerful: Mars conjunct Saturn, Jupiter conjunct Pluto and - added to the mix – Mars square to Uranus, exact on this Full Moon day.
In the language of Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Libra is aligned with Ma’at, goddess of truth, justice and balance. In Egyptian myth, the newly deceased are presented to Ma’at, who weighs their heart upon her scale. If the heart is lighter than Ma’at’s feather, the soul is granted passage to the Du’at – the Egyptian version of heaven.
The ancient Egyptians understood something about cultivating a light heart. A common greeting was, “I wish you Ma’at.” This wish was for abundance, joy, healthy children, a big harvest, riches and laughter. And the wish was also for famine, loss, sorrow, death and pain. The message is that you cannot have one without the other. Expansion is always followed by contraction. New life always follows death. Life on Earth is both pleasure and pain, joy and loss. Our job is to stay awake during all these phases of life and not lose ourselves to fears that our joy will diminish or that sorrow will come. The answer is always, “Yes – the other will come.”
This Libra Full Moon comes at a time of great uncertainty and fear. We will have moments of imbalance; such reactions are human. The challenge is to reset to center as quickly as we can. The ability to come back into right relationship with ourselves and others is a marker of maturity. We will not do it perfectly, and as we continue to do our personal work, we will attain an internal balance that will support us in navigating the many challenges of life on Earth.
