New Moon in Scorpio

Updated: Apr 3, 2021

New Moon at Scorpio 23°18’, November 15, 12:07 am EST.

When something has run its course, it starts to congeal. It becomes stiff, wooden, inflexible, constraining. An outworn structure is no longer a safe container; it becomes a prison. It is against the nature of life to be trapped in a structure that prevents growth. Life will begin to struggle against an oppressive container, breaking it down in a search for freedom and new opportunities.

In the language of Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, the water sign Scorpio is aligned with Bast, the cat goddess. Bast awakens within us our Holy Longing. She activates our desire nature – our yearning - to inspire the courage to break out of structures that no longer serve us. She brings death and out of that death new life emerges.

This Scorpio New Moon comes on the heels of two powerful transits: the Jupiter/Pluto conjunction (exact on 11/12) and Mars Stationary turning direct (11/13). The Great Shift Alignment remains present and active, continuing the ongoing dismantling of structures – both personal and societal – as we have known them. This Moon cycle will bring a new eclipse portal: we will have a penumbral Lunar Eclipse on November 30 and a New Moon Solar Eclipse on December 14. We are approaching the end of a phase that began on July 4.

This New Moon is an initiator of death and a harbinger of birth. We are on the cusp of change. During this Dark Moon (11/13 – 16), connect with your Holy Longing and allow Bast to ignite the hunger of your soul for change.
