Pluto turns Retrograde

Pluto (Osiris to the Egyptians) is currently stationary, having tiptoed as far into Aquarius (0°21’) as it will go at this time. The intense pressure activated by the transition of Pluto/Osiris – the god of death, birth, and regeneration - into a new sign will begin to lessen.

Pluto’s gradual movement out of earthy Capricorn – where Pluto has been since 2008 - is a big deal. Capricorn represents the structure of society; Aquarius describes the merging of individuals into a collective identity. Aquarius is a visionary sign and the ruler of science and technology.

On March 23 - the day Pluto moved into Aquarius – the stable version of ChatGPT (Chat-4) - was released, initiating a spirited discussion of the societal ramifications of artificial intelligence. The last two months have brought a cascade of deep fake photos, music, and videos that have made the possibilities of this new technology impossible to ignore. With this station of Pluto, the first round of this onslaught will begin to diminish. On June 11, Pluto will retrograde back into Capricorn where it will remain for the rest of this year. Pluto will return his stony gaze to the structural issues of society, and how that construct needs to be modified to accommodate the inevitable transformations yet to come.

If you have natal Sun through Saturn at or near 0° of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius, you will feel a slight easing off of the pressure for change you’ve been experiencing. It is important to understand that this is a temporary retreat, giving you – and our collective – time to process the magnitude of these changes and adjust appropriately. These changes will transform our lives in ways we cannot yet fully imagine.

Pluto/Osiris will remain retrograde from May 1, 2023 until January 20, 2024.
