Sun in Pisces

Writer's picture: Ruby FalconerRuby Falconer

Each sign of the Zodiac emerges from what has come before. The water sign Pisces is the end of the cycle; everything that came before is dissolved away in the primordial waters in preparation for the rebirth of Aries. Pisces is the ocean – deep, vast, beautiful, and dangerous. If you are out to sea, don’t fall in or you may drown!

Pisces individuals are sensitive, compassionate, fluid, and easily overwhelmed by the feelings of others. Try drawing a line in the ocean and see what happens. The challenges of everyday life teach these natives to recognize the separation between themselves and others. Collectively, the veils are thin during Pisces season. Discernment is required so as not to be overwhelmed.

In Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Pisces is allied with Sothis, the Greek name of the blue star Sirius. Sirius was important to the ancient Egyptians. They believed their “home” – where their souls came from – was in the vicinity of Canis Major, the constellation of which Sirius is the alpha star. Sothis holds the energy of the Bodhisattva – the soul who willingly returns to Earth in service to Gaia and all of her creatures. These individuals are very attuned to information emanating from the stars. Their challenge is to receive, pass this energy through their body and on to those around them without being overwhelmed. Boundaries are required.

The Sun moves through the emanation of Pisces/Sothis from February 18 to March 20.
