Virgo Full Moon; Saturn in Pisces

March 7, 2023: Full Moon at Virgo 16°40’, 7:40 am EST; Saturn enters Pisces.

The Virgo/Pisces opposition describes the relationship between order and entropy. All that is created will disintegrate. Virgo creates order. In Pisces that creation dissolves into the great karmic sea. Virgo can suffer from perfectionism, driving themselves and everyone else crazy attempting to maintain their version of “correctness.” Pisces is boundaryless; everything disintegrates into an undifferentiated soup comprised of all that has come before.

Both signs are mutable. The mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) differ in expression as determined by their element but share qualities of adaptability and fluidity. Each, in their own way, can turn on a dime. At this Full Moon, Mars in Gemini forms a T-square with the Sun/Moon opposition. Mars is returning to a square to Neptune, in effect when it turned retrograde in October.

In their shadow, the mutable signs are prone to anxiety. This Full Moon window will be defined by a feeling of “too much” – too many details, too many feelings, and too much movement.

Fifty-five minutes after the exact Full Moon, Saturn – planet of constriction – enters the water sign Pisces where it will remain for the next three years. Saturn provides a container that maintains the status quo. In some ways, Saturn in Pisces will be reassuring, providing a safe harbor against the vastness of the endless sea. And water is deceptively strong. The waters of our planet consistently change the nature of their containers; riverbeds and coastlines shift according to the movement of water. These changes are subtle, except when there is a powerful storm. In these instances, water can dramatically transform its earthly container.
